The Thornhill V Oakgrove Match

The Thornhill V Oakgrove Match on Thursday 10th March 2011 at Foyle Golf Club, Derry.

The day started brightly with the sun struggling to breakthrough, but when it did, it certainly shone on this splendid game of golf. Oakgrove, with a single figure and three low teen handicappers, playing against the girls from Thornhill, most of whom were new to the golf experience.  As the weather worsened, with it went the girls’ gallant attempt to stem the tide, with the last match out finishing at the 16th, to record a 7-0 victory for Oakgrove college.  A fantastic day’s fun was had by all, and the boys of Oakgrove and the girls of Thornhill were impeccably behaved and a credit to both schools.  Now that the first game has been negotiated, it is now onwards now to the remaining matches, days out and hopefully the finals day!
