Darren Clarke schools golf finals,15th June Banbridge.
We had our finals day this week and had 21 schools from all over the province, playing in this event boys under 15 and girls any age, totalling 92 pupils.
We have raised almost £14100 for breakthrough breast cancer and that would bring our total to over £57500. We had more schools play in this event than any other school event in Ireland and we had Tyrone Clarke representing Dalriada amongst the kids.
Also we had the two teams who got to the final. We had the victorious St Pat's Downpatrick and the gallant runners up from St Patrick's Dungannon. The final was played at Lisburn and Downpatrick won by 5 games to 2, with there 4 first year players again playing a starring role.
The captains from host venue Banbridge Cathal Mc Neill and from Warrenpoint Peter Fitzsimmons, presented the prizes and all from the Taylormade company to which the league are highly in debted. We also had a special presentation to Adam Mc Cormack who had the leagues first hole in one and Adam from Nendrum College had it at the 13th hole in Scrabo earlier in the event.

The schools have made fantastic efforts this year in terms of fundraising with St Patricks High School Keady topping the poll with £2500 but ably assisited by Regent House with £1500, Belfast Royal with almost £900 and Thornhill College Derry also making a very significant contribution.

Lastly this event could not run without the support of the Ulster GUI and the sponsorship monies from Darren Clarke which has seen it grow to the event it is today.
